out of curiosity, and out of education... expected lifetime of corsets..
how many uses should one expect of, and from, and out of shapewear? i ask because i'm, for the first time, my corset... well, my shiny vinyl waist cyncher, has a tear. which brings me to my question... what are the typical expectations, in terms of usage, should one expect from... corsets? waist cinchers? etc, etc....

Re: average uses...
Wed, April 29, 2009 - 7:14 PMIt will, in part depend on your use of the garment. I know one person who got her first corset over 10 years ago and it is still in great shape, but she only wears it occasionally. I know others who buy a new corset every few years, but they tend to wear them much more. I also know one gal who wears one of hers every day instead of other support garments, and she tends to buy a new one every year or so.
Your mileage may vary.

As was said: depends on your use.
Also, it depends on the corset. In general, inexpensive ones won't last as long...
FWIW, I usually think of "vinyl" as a relatively "flimsy" fabric. Unless it was a vinyl layer over some other, heavier-duty fabric, I'd *expect* it to tear relatively soon... :( But I don't have a regular vinyl-wearer in my life, so I'm just guessing here, really.

Re: average uses...
Fri, May 8, 2009 - 7:57 AMI have been tight lacing in a Meschante training corset for a year and a half, daily wear, on average 9 hours per day, and it looks as good as the day I bought it--just form fitted to me.
