So I got my first corset yesterday (santa was good too me). I love it. I love the feel of the hugging but while I like that feeling my neck and shoulder is sore immediatly when I put it on. IS this a newbies aches and pains or do I have it to tight? I guess its both but does that goaway soon? got it from www.timeless-trends.com/aboutus.htm
i guess I go loosen it up some but I like huggin but hate the aches.

Re: newbie question
Wed, December 26, 2007 - 11:21 AMSorry, but I am now asking you a question...
How do you like the corset you got from this place? The prices are quite attractive, seeing as how I am on a bit of a budget here.
They look nice and the site sure seems to toot the quality horn.
Thanks and good luck with your new "hugger". -

Re: newbie question
Wed, December 26, 2007 - 5:31 PMMy corset is very beautiful. The corset itself is comfortable, the shoulder ache isnt but I take it off when it starts(maybe its a newbie thing) This is my first so I cant really compare it. I have seen some reviews on the corset group on myspace, nobody had anything bad to say. I'd say Google it. I dont see anything wrong with it, but I have nothing but my expectations to compare it to and Iike it.

Re: newbie question
Wed, December 26, 2007 - 11:22 PMI haven't bought any Timeless Trends corsets, but you can get an off-the-rack at search.ebay.com/meschantes for around the same price, if you want to have a few more options.
I've heard good things about TT corsets regarding their quality, but their also supposed to be not incredibly curvy, whereas Meschantes off-the-rack underbusts are a little curvier. It all depends on what shape you like the appearance of most, and which will best suit your body. And, of course, TT has a larger selection for the price. -

Re: newbie question
Wed, December 26, 2007 - 12:54 PMAll you gave us to go on is the "about us" page. People kind of need to know the style of the corset and whether it is off the rack or made to measure, and then exactly what measurements were required. I"m sure that with this information , somebody ( but alas, not me) can give you a working answer. -

Re: newbie question
Wed, December 26, 2007 - 5:38 PMThey make all underbust corsets. All the info is on their site. Yes it is off the rack and I know this isnt as good as custom. I have heard people get sore when the first start out and it goes away but Im just wondering if that soreness usually happens in the neck/shoulder area. I dont wear it all day as Ive read u dont want to start off that way(ive been reading alittle into it).
Im wearing it right now :) and dont feel achy so I dunno maybe its a getting used to thing.
I got a 28 inch corset. 4 inches less than my natural waist.
Oh and I have heard good reviews about these from people who usually wear corsets, but I know every BODY is differ.

Re: newbie question
Wed, December 26, 2007 - 11:25 PMIf it's the neck and shoulder, and it's happening right after you put the corset on, it may be how you're putting it on that's making you sore. Do you tighten the laces yourself? Because that could definitely create an uncomfortable position for your arms and neck that would ultimately result in soreness, particularly if you're not very flexible in your shoulders. -

Re: newbie question
Thu, December 27, 2007 - 8:45 AMyea, I put it on myself. I found it aches a few mins later, maybe that is it. Found it also came with a bit of headache(took it off then). BUT I found I didnt have anypain yesterday and I wore it for a good while :) YAie! I was worrying abit about it, if it was me or the corset doing it.
Thanks

Re: newbie question
Wed, January 2, 2008 - 12:03 AMI wear corsets and bodices for hours on end for renaissance faires. It's a newbe thing. My first faire of the season is always the worst as my muscles end up in different places. And if I've been really stressed before hand it can be worse o being with until i relax, because of the pressure it places on my muscle "knots".

Re: newbie question
Wed, January 9, 2008 - 2:37 PMi was thinking it might have something to do with your posture. if the corset is tight it might be making you tense up your shoulders. try to be mindful of how you are sitting/standing. and definitely loosen it if it's making you feel out of breath or sore. you'll get used to it in time.
congrats on the new corset! -

Re: newbie question
Thu, March 6, 2008 - 9:11 AMI just started waist training 3 1/2 weeks ago. I spent two weeks "breaking in" my Vollers underbust corset (wearing it bet. 2 and 6 hours per day, not laced particularly tightly, but enough to know it was there) so it could mold to my figure, and stretch where it needed to. (Often when corsets fall apart they have been laced too tight without being broken in). Last week I started actual waist training. I cinched in two inches smaller than my natural waist, and wore the corset at that size for 2 hours each day for three days. Then, on day four, I increased my time (but still at the same measurement) to four hours, for three days. Then one day off. The next day I started in again, same measurement, increased time to 6 hours for three days; then 8 hours for three days (that's where I am today). After the next six days (three at six hours, three at 8 hours), and a day off, I will finally increase the measurement by 1/2 inch (so I'm now cinching in 2 1/2 inches smaller than my natural waist) and start the schedule over (2 hours for 3 days, 4 hours for 3 days, day off, 6 hours for 3 days, 8 hours for 3 days)--you get the idea.
If you follow a gradual, practical schedule like this for serious waist training, perhaps you won't have the problems you are having. And the rule is if you suddenly can't stand it any more, LOOSEN YOUR STAYS! Simple 'nuff. -

Re: newbie question
Thu, March 27, 2008 - 1:57 PMDo you have a naturally upright posture? When I first started wearing a corset, I had exactly the same problem as it sounds like you are having with the neck and shoulder soreness. My posture is already so upright without the corset that the corset was causing me to overcompensate--in my mind, I needed to sit up exactly as straight as I normally do with the corset on, which is not needed as much since the corset postures you accordingly. Sooo....your problem could be that you are holding yourself differently than usual, in which case you just need to think about relaxing your shoulders slightly instead of pushing them back even farther than they already are.

Re: newbie question
Thu, April 10, 2008 - 3:56 PMIt takes time and commitment to corset train. Most newbies make the mistake by lacing corsets too tight, or not breaking them in right as well. A corset should support and accent your figure, you really should not have to hold yourself up by your muscles, which can cause pain, soreness and strain.
Take the time and start by only lacing it a inch or so at first. always wear a corset liner, and make certain that your corset is laced properly. One great site is www.corsetted.com/shop.shtml#ef and www.staylace.com/ these have always worked to assist the young, new, old and even the tight lacer's. Best wishes - Master LatexHer.
