So today i got my first real corset (Meschantes, 24" training corset) in the mail, enlisted a helper to lace me up and everything. with her help, i got laced up so that there was an even gap between grommets of about 1.5 or 2 inches all the way down the length of the opening in the back. and then, i had this train of thought:
--wow, i look so tiny in this!
--let's bust out the tape measure to see just HOW tiny
--(tape measure found, measurement taken)oh wow... just one inch taken off..
so, i have a natural waist of about 28 inches, but all laced up very tightly (not crazy tight or anything, just what i could handle at the time, which was a significant tightness) i only got down to 27 inches. is this just because the torso goes from being more oval in shape to more cylindrical? because i looked really quite narrow but perhaps the actual circumference of my torso was generally unaffected.
any thoughts? has anyone else experienced this?

Re: does anyone else have this problem?
Wed, March 25, 2009 - 8:33 AMyou have to lace it ALL THE WAY to get to the smallest waist size. if you leave a gap, your waist will be the circumference of the corset plus the gap. You;ll get some waist reduction but not as much as if you had tight laced.
Its that one inch in Just the Right Place that really makes the difference anyway! -

Re: does anyone else have this problem?
Tue, April 7, 2009 - 10:45 AMIt takes a while to make a big change--waist training is a long-term process. You should proceed slowly and cautiously while your body adjusts. I started at a 1 inch reduction and wore the corset two hours the first day, three the second, etc. over a two week period. The beginning of the third week, reduce 1 1/2 inches, and start over at 2 hours increasing an hour a day over another two weeks. You get the idea. Also, remember that corsets are bulky. . .so you may be measuring 1 inch decrease around the outside of the corset, but on the inside you're probably cinched about 1 1/2 inches or more.
Last, after an hour of wearing your corset you may find it's easier to lace tighter if you want. The body has adjusted to the corset, and it's easier to tighten up after that initial hour.
Good luck, be patient, and enjoy!
