You should proceed slowly and cautiously while your body adjusts. I started at a 1 inch reduction and wore the corset two hours the first day, three the second, etc. over a two week period. The beginning of the third week, reduce 1 1/2 inches, and start over at 2 hours increasing an hour a day over another two weeks. You get the idea. Also, remember that corsets are bulky. . .so you may be measuring 1 inch decrease around the outside of the corset, but on the inside you're probably cinched about 1 1/2 inches or more. Last, after an hour of wearing your corset you may find it's easier to lace tighter if you want. The body has adjusted to the corset, and it's easier to tighten up after that initial hour.
