I'm looking for either someone who makes corsets or a corset supply in or near West Virginia. If you have the knowledge and are willing to help me on this journey, please let me know.

Re: West Virginia or near help
Thu, February 12, 2009 - 11:51 AMThere must be someplace in Charleston or HUnington. Where in West by God, are you? If You'r up in the panhandle, it might be easier to deal with someplace around Pittsburgh or in Ohio. -

Re: West Virginia or near help
Fri, February 20, 2009 - 10:24 PMI did a Google search for corsets in Charleston, and was mildly surprised to find none. Oh, there are the usual undergarment retailers, but no made-to order places. I guess you'll have to hop on I 64 and drive either east or west for a couple of hundred miles. When I was in Charleston, I got the impression it was a more cosmopolitan city than that. Oh well ... I will say, I am pleased with th one I just got from Alter ego. The fit is not bad, considering it is not made-to measure, and the finish is much better than I expect for a leather corset for $150.00.
I would definately buy from them again. When I ordered it, Katharen sent me a reply, saying that she recommended a different size, given my natural waist measurement. I took her at her word, and she was, as the British would say, "Spot on." -

Re: West Virginia or near help
Sat, February 21, 2009 - 7:19 PMI've been quite surprised by this myself. I really thought I'd be able to get a corset made locally in Charleston or maybe Huntington. While Charleston is metropolitan in comparison to the rest of the state, we lag behind cities such as Chicago. Overall, I'll stay here (pun not intended) and either try my hand at making my own travel to a custom shop in Ohio or Pennsylvania.

Re: West Virginia or near help
Fri, February 27, 2009 - 10:40 PMI just had a sudden inspiration. I wonder if there are any at The Greenbriar or maybe in Lewisburg? There are a whole slew of upscale shops there. And that's an easy day trip from Charleston, provided you take the main roads, and don't try to go the old route along the river. I did that once -- I was doing some surveying at Cabin Creek, staying at the Holiday Inn in Charleston, and went to visit my in-laws in Richwood over the weekend. That was a haul!
